Mahindra South Africa has launched another addition to its value-for-money Bolero range - The Bolero Dropside.

Built to last and created to work, the Dropside is Ideally suited for tradesmen, small business owners and farmers - it can carry a maximum payload of one ton.

The loadbox has a capacity of 1.848 m³, making it one of the biggest in its class, with high walls and an easy to clean surface. The flatbed of the loadbox has three functional fold down panels on three sides to load a variety of cargo such as sand, bricks, scaffolding and much more.

Mahindra has kept reinventing the model platform to suit customers' needs and aspirations, no more so than with the introduction of the Bolero Loader in South Africa in August 2006, and now with the launch of the Bolero Dropside here.

"The Mahindra Bolero has evolved over the years, and in a relatively short space of time, it recently became India's No. 1 utility vehicle brand with over 100 000 units sold to date in that country," said Vijay Nakra, chief executive of Mahindra South Africa.

A real workhorse

The bakkie is powered by a steadfast 2498cc four-cylinder turbo-charged intercooled diesel engine, which delivers a maximum power output of 74 kW at 4 150r/min and a maximum torque of 235 Nm at just 1 800r/min.

Power steering provides agility in tight spots, with a turning circle radius of 5.7m.

The Bolero Dropside sports a strong chassis that provides safety and comfort even with heavy payloads.

The interior echoes the versatile purpose of the vehicle - a workhorse that will do the job at hand without a fuss. It is also handily fitted with rubber flooring throughout its interior.

Mahindra South Africa has appointed dealers in all nine provinces of South Africa since inception, which are fully-fledged facilities that handle all aspects of sales, service and parts. "With over 35 dealerships, in cities and in towns across South Africa, we have a growing national footprint that is moving ever deeper into communities, as we continue in our drive to offer an increasing range of products and services to our customers," said Terry Gregory, chief of operations, Mahindra South Africa.

For this reason, Mahindra South Africa have created a powerful network for more effective customer service by collaborating with Berco, a renowned parts logistics and distribution company, who have a dedicated customer service team to deliver parts anywhere in the country in a reasonable time.

Mahindra vehicles are also covered by a two-year roadside assistance AA membership along with medical backing in case of emergencies.

Pricing

The Mahindra Bolero Dropside is available at a retail price of R109 900. It comes with a 2 year/ 50 000 km and an optional service plan is also available. The vehicle has 10 000 km service intervals.
