Kia sales records tumble in Europe

  • 200 038 Kias registered first half 2015
  • New, upgraded models, 7.6% growth
  • Highest quarterly sales: 103 946 in Q2
  • Best-selling Sportage tops charts

SEOUL, South Korea – Kia Motors Europe has recorded its best-yet quarterly and half-year sales as year-on-year growth accelerated to 7.6%.

That’s the latest data from European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.

Kia sold 200 038 units during the first half of 2015 – its best-yet six months in Europe and 7.6% up on the same period in 2014. The second quarter of 2015 was the brand's best-yet with 103 946 sales – the first time Kia has broken 100 000 in a quarter.

Michael Cole, chief operating officer of Kia Motors Europe, said: "2015 to date has been a great period for Kia in Europe with sales records tumbling and new highs reached. We're delighted an increasing number of people are drawn to our cars.

"Kia is focused on developing unrivalled quality and industry-leading service. We want customers to enjoy buying and owning a Kia.”
