Jeep recall

2007-09-18 10:44
Detroit - Chrysler late last week announced it would recall 369 000 vehicles for problems associated with brake systems and door latches and locks.

Locally, 54 Jeep Wranglers have been affected by the safety recall. Chrysler SA told Wheels24 that it is currently in the process of tracking down the individual customers, who will be personally informed.

It expects repairs to the remaining units to be completed in the coming weeks.

Globally, affected vehicles include Jeep's Grand Cherokee and Commander for 2006 and 2007, and the 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro.

According to Chrysler, a glitch in an electronic control unit could cause a delay in braking when driving uphill.

"It's a very rare occurrence, but we have had reports of drivers experiencing problems when they take their foot off the accelerator," company spokesman Max Gates said." About 20 cases were reported.
