Ford teases new Delhi dream

2011-12-19 13:59

WAIT AND SEE: Ford's not saying (nor showing) much of its next all-new vehicle, but we know it will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi, India.

Visitors to Ford’s stand at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi in January, 2012 will get the first glimpse of an all-new vehicle planned for introduction in India and other global markets, among them South Africa, in the near future.

The new vehicle will be the latest One Ford global product and will share its show space with the Figo, the all-new Fiesta, the Ford Classic sedan and the Ford Endeavour full-sized SUV. Ford is not saying much more about the vehicle and has only released the teaser image to the right in the run-up to its January unveiling.

This next-generation vehicle will take centre stage on Ford's interactive Auto Expo 2012 stand, where highlights will include safety and quality displays, a 3D theatre, live shows and a driving game. Wheels24 will be there for the occasion.

According to Ford, its Auto Expo display will “take advantage of the latest technology to deliver a lively and interactive experience for customers”.

One of the key attractions is a driving game that allows audience members to take virtual control of a vehicle through an LED display that uses a motion-sensing camera and prompts the crowd to lean left or right to unlock information along the route. Pictures from this event will be uploaded to a Facebook gallery where visitors can tag themselves.

Ford also will have a Figo Theatre to explain the hatchback’s technologies, a 3D theatre where a Ford engineer will take showgoers through a virtual car interior, and a Fiesta body shell on display.

Auto Expo 2012 will run from January 7-11, 2012, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
