A seatbelt is the single-most important safety aspect of a car whether you're the driver or passenger that can often prove to be the difference between life and death.

This notion carries extra significance when it comes to pregnant women and the life carried inside of them.

Protect the unborn

The standard seatbelt position is harmful for the baby in the event of an accident where squeezing can occur. A cool 'pregnancy seatbelt' manufactured by Kidi Pal drastically reduces the risk by shifting the belt's positioning point in the car.

Wheels24's Janine Van der Post says: "Being far into a pregnancy gets pretty uncomfortable for women and having to put a seatbelt around your abdomen makes things worst so women tend to stick their arms under the belt or lift it higher, or lower, than it should be which is dangerous both to moms and the unborn baby.

"So having a seatbelt specially designed for pregnant women is awesome as it's imperative to be strapped up and buckled in at all times. I wish I had something like this when I was pregnant."

Besides providing an essential safety aspect, it allows mom to sit comfortably as well.

Takealot.com sells a similar product called a 3-point Inertia seatbelt if you are looking for one.
