WATCH: How to beat the traffic this holiday season

The festive season means many things... Lots of food, spending time with the family and unfortunately also lots of traffic.

Plenty of people will be making their way to holiday destinations or scrambling to get a few last-minute items just in time before Santa arrives.

Planning ahead

Possibly the best way to beat the long queue's is to plan ahead. Many people will be travelling on roads more convenient and faster for them, and a large influx in one place leads to congestion.

Allow an extra bit of travelling time to use an alternative route. This way the likelihood of you sitting in traffic is minimised.

Another way is to be on the road early and avoid peak times. Plot your course by using Google maps and check for the fastest route to your destination.
