Made famous by James Bond and the 007 movie franchise, Aston Martin is one of Britain's biggest automakers.

The Vanquish, DB9 and DB5 are just some of the popular models to have rolled off the production line in Gaydon, its headquarters. But just where did everything start?

A long history

According to Donut Media, back in 1913 two car enthusiasts Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford got the ball rolling on what was to be the start of greater things. As the years progressed and with the help of investment, the company, called Aston Martin Motors in 1926, did well in events like Le Mans and the Mille Miglia.

Aston Martin became a household name when its cars made wholesale appearances in the James Bond movie franchise. People became familiar with the brand the world over and it has since evolved into one of Europe's most prestigious automakers.

It has gone from strength to strength, having already released its third hypercar called Project '003'.
