Toyota's December 2017 sales, Dakar 2018: Motoring wrap

Cape Town - From the latest at Dakar 2018 to Toyota's vehicle sales for December 2017... here are five stories you shouldn't miss. 

GM's ambition 

General Motors says it is making the first mass-production autonomous car without a steering wheel or pedals, with a petition already in place to seek permission from the Federal Government.

Also, Carless commuting is cruising in the fast lane at the Consumer Electronics Show, with companies showing off electric bicycles, scooters, skateboards and more aimed at making the internal combustion engine a thing of the past.

Then, Spaniard Carlos Sainz won the sixth stage of the Dakar Rally, putting a small dent in the overall lead of his Peugeot teammate Stephane Peterhansel of France.
