I think you broke the car Dom! 'Fast and Furious' damages will make you cringe

accreditation

Cape Town - In April 2017, the eighth installment of the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise will hit cinemas and if all the hype is to be believed, we're in for a cracker of a petrolhead movie!

What can be gleaned from trailers is that Dominic "Dom" Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) will apparently turn rogue and that the "family" will enlist the aid of the biggest villain of the franchise, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).

Damages upon damages

Whether it's drifting in Tokyo and taking on a battle tank on a highway, the teams behind each film took a different approach with every movie. One thing that remained a constant was the huge toll in terms of damages and destruction caused by every vehicle used.

The guys at Insure the Gap took it upon themselves to delve into the Fast and the Furious archives and compiled a budget of some sorts on what the total expenses has been on the first seven installments.

Since 2001, when the original movie was released, the equivalent of R7-billion has been spent on damages alone!

Read it again and let it sink in for a moment...
