Cape Town - The Range Rover/RR Sport shot to the top of the luxury SUV market in March after tough start in 2018.
The Range Rover did not make the top 10 best-sellers in January and barely scrapped in during February. In March, however its fortunes changed dramatically to become the best-selling luxury SUV in SA.
During the course of March 2018, 177 buyers took ownership of a new Range Rover/RR Sport, followed by the BMW X5 on 171 units.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 was third with 136 units.
Jaguar Land Rover takeover
The newly launched Jaguar E-Pace also sold 136 units, ahead of former top luxury SUV, the Toyota Prado, with 119 models sold. The Land Rover Discovery slips below the 100-mark with 94 units sold, but still outsold the Range Rover Velar (72).
Jeep’s Grand Cherokee sits in eighth place after 52 units left the showroom floor, a single unit ahead of the Range Rover Evoque (51).
Former Car of the Year champion, the Volvo XC90, completes the top ten with 39 units.
