Guess where first Type R's are going?

SUNDERLAND, England - Today (July 6), in his inaugural speech as Honda CEO, Takahiro Hachigo announced that built-in-England new Civic Type R units will be exported... to Japan.

The first cars from Honda UK Manufacturing are due in Japanese showrooms from late 2015.

This news is a further boost for the 3000 people working at the UK plant as it follows the recent announcement of new investment at the plant equivalent to R3.8-billion, with HUM becoming the global production hub for the next generation Civic five-door.

COMING TO SA, TOO

Philip Ross, senior vice-president for Honda Europe, said: "We’re delighted that the European Civic Type R will be sold to customers in Honda’s home country."

The new Civic Type R will reach South Africa later this year.
