Veyron SS wristwatch launched

Just in case somebody at the restaurant did not notice your Veyron Super Sports in the parking lot, you can now set your wrist on the table and show off a watch of the same name – and proportional pricing.

The Bugatti brand is one of unapologetic excess.

In terms of performance this VW Group supercar nameplate holds all the records.

Earlier this year the 895kW Veyron Super Sports set a new top speed record of 430km/h for production cars.

Power. Performance. Price. Bugatti’s Veyron has trounced all comers to claim its place in history.

In case you suffer any residual insecurity complex despite driving a Veyron, Bugatti has now teamed with Parmigiani Fleurier to launch a timepiece (wristwatch in proletarian parlance) that celebrates the speed record and shores up its owner’s social standing.

The Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport timepiece shadows its car sibling by featuring an outlandish design compromised of exotic materials.

A carbon-fibre dial and double pinion and bevel gearing system keep it ticking.

Cleverly, Parmigiani’s engineers have allowed a 90-degree transfer of energy within the design. This enables time to be displayed on the side of this wristwatch – allowing Veyron owners to keep both hands on the wheel and know if they are going to be late, which should not be often.

Production of the Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport will be in line with the scarcity afforded to its four-wheeled namesake.

In fact, the timepiece will be even rarer than the car – with only 30 units set to be produced, at a price of $259 000 each.

With the final 40 Veyrons to roll off the Molsheim production line set to be Super Sports models, there are going to ten very dissapointed customers who’ll have to settle for something like a Patek Philippe instead…
