Two KwaZulu-Natal taxi drivers have been arrested for speeding.
Department of transport spokesman Logan Maistry said one of the drivers was caught driving at 151km/h and the other at 141km/h.
Maistry said: “Both drivers were arrested on Saturday (February 11, 2012) near the Tongaat River Bridge. The maximum permissible speed for a minibus taxi is 100km/h,” he said.
Both men would appear in court, he added.
Maistry said police arrested 8507 drivers in January 2012 as part of the ongoing million-a-month vehicle check instituted by transport minister Sibusiso Ndebele.
