Pug's next-generation 308 hatch

LONDON, England - The new 308 hatchback will be one of the star attractions at Peugeot's 2013 Frankfurt motor show stand. What's more, nine examples of the five-door model will be on show!

The 308 is built on the automaker's new Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) architecture, making it the lightest model yet in its segment, claims Peugeot. It weighs 140kg lighter than the outgoing model.

Five petrol and HDi diesel engines will be available at launch, with the highlight being the 1.6-litre HDi 92 with only 93g/km of C02 emissions.

Peugeot says its 308 will be the first car in its stable to benefit from an innovative three-cylinder turbopetrol engine – the 1.2 e-THP.

PREMIUM INTERIOR

The automaker says inside, there are high-quality materials surrounding the "i-Cockpit" with a minimalist design inspired by the Peugeot SR1. There’s a compact steering wheel, an elevated instrument panel for easy reading, a high centre-console and a 25cm touch-screen.

Driving aids include blind spot monitoring, dynamic cruise control, emergency collision alert and emergency collision braking system. LEDs are available on higher trim levels.

The new Peugeot 308 will be built at the Sochaux factory in France and will go on sale early in 2014.
