Porsche starts diesel production

Production of the new Cayenne Diesel has started at Porsche's Leipzig facility.

The SUV's 176-kW 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine is sourced from Audi. The engine, with a torque figure of 550 Nm, will be fitted with Porsche's Tiptronic S automatic gearbox as standard.

Porsche quotes an average fuel consumption of 9.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 244 g/km for its diesel-powered SUV.

Locally, Porsche SA has confirmed that the Cayenne Diesel will be available in South Africa from the second half of 2009.
