Nissan appeals to entrepreneurs

Based on the idea that people's cars have to adapt to how they live their lives, Nissan recently showed off an innovative concept for entrepreneurs in need of adaptable cars.

The Townpod concept shown at this year’s Paris auto show is considered a tool for the modern entrepreneur by combining the regular passenger car with the practicality of a light commercial vehicle. It has rear-hinged doors and a floor that is low and flat to make loading bulky items less of a hassle.

A hatch-like sun roof above the cargo area allows the Townpod to cart taller items.

The Townpod also uses the same zero-emissions technology as that on the Nissan Leaf, the electric car that is all the rage. Charging points are cleverly concealed by a retracting cover on the nose.

Nissan hasn’t revealed any plans to build the innovative little panel van but does see the Townpod as something for “smart people” who typically demand more in the way of style and function from their cars.

We just think it's extremely cute, particularly with its jewel-like rear lights that are designed to “sparkle rather than simply glow” when illuminated.
