Grainy images of the Alfa Romeo Milano hatchback were sneaked on a production line and - as one does these days - promptly posted on Facebook.
The cellphone images show that the five-door Milano (as the new car is known) looks very similar to the smaller MiTo. With design inspired by the 8C Competizione, the Milano also sports oval headlamps and a sharp shield-like grille.
And similar to the 147 it replaces, Milano has concealed handles for the rear doors.
Images showing the interior were also included and show deep set instruments and a minimalistic dash giving the cabin a sporty appearance.
Milano will likely be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The Fiat Group's spunky turbocharged 1.4-litre engine is expected to feature prominently in the line-up, alongside a turbodiesel unit or two.
