BMW spruces up its 1 Series range with the addition of two new engines and two cosmetic packages.
Two four-cylinder petrol and turbodiesel powerplants both meet EU5 emissions ratings and are offered on the 1 Series Coupe.
The 120i Coupe receives a 2.0-litre unit with direct petrol injection that has 125 kW and 210 Nm on tap at 6 700 and 4 250 r/min, respectively. This car sprints from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed o 224 km/h.
Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 6.6 l/100 km and its CO2 emission rating is listed as 153 g/km.
Furthermore, the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 105 kW at 4 000 r/min and 300 Nm at between 1 750 and 2 500 r/min and ensured the three-door 118d a World Green Car of the Year title in 2008, now finds its way to the coupe range.
The 118d Coupe goes from 0 - 100 km/h in 9 seconds and has a top speed o 210 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 4.5 l/100 km and it releases 119 g/km of CO2 emissions.
Because these models subscribe to BMW's EfficientDynamics, technologies such as brake energy regeneration, gearshift point indicator and on-demand management of certain functions, are standard.
Edition models
In addition, Lifestyle and Sport Edition packages are being offered on the three- and five-door models.
The Lifestyle Edition is finished in Marrakesh Brown metallic paintwork and adds chrome-plated tailpipes, 17-inch five-spoke light alloy rims and a leather-rimmed sports steering wheel with multifunction controls.
Edition models come standard with the M Sports Package, including the M Aerodynamics Package, a sports suspension and 17-inch light alloy wheels.
The interior sports details such as stainless steel pedals, an M sports steering wheel, an M gearshift lever, aluminium trim and sports seats for the driver and front passenger.
The latest generation iDrive and a new 800 x 400 pixel control display is offered across the range.
