Mercedes recently revealed that an A-Class roadster, of which a concept was first seen in 2000, may soon be a feature in showrooms across the globe.
Based on the A-Class, the Vision SLA was first shown with the idea of conveying elements of the SL roadster into a vehicle of a smaller
segment.
First shown at the Detroit Show in 2000, several elements of the design study were initially incorporated into the Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster, including LED light features and carbon fibre bucket seats.
However, in a release issued earlier this year, the manufacturer mentioned that the compact roadster first shown eight years ago has now been developed to the point where it could "go into production at a moment's notice."
It sounds as though Mercedes-Benz is teasing us with the promise of a small roadster, which we may catch a glimpse of on the global motor show circuit some time in 2009.
