Malema's licence 'expired'

2010-03-01 14:57

As Julius Malema's lifestyle and assets are still being carefully scrutinised, it appears there's one asset he is lacking – a valid drivers’ licence.

According to The Mercury, Malema's drivers licence expired in September 2009 and it has not been renewed. It has also been uncovered that Malema has 12 outstanding traffic fines amounting to R4 450.

The offences were reportedly committed in Johannesburg over the last two years. The fines range from between R100 and R1 100, eleven of them speeding fines and the other for jumping a red robot.

According to a traffic department official, nine of Malema's fines have since "stagnated" after several failed attempts by traffic officials to serve summons for the outstanding fines.

All of the fines have been linked to the Mecerdes-Benz C63 AMG, which Malema recently confirmed as the only vehicle he owns.

The most frustrating part of it all is he is too DUMB to let this bother him!!!!!!

  • The DA rocks - 2010-03-01 15:08

Julius Malema you are a disgrace to our amazing counrty

  • Alf - 2010-03-01 15:14

People if he dont pay his fines, why do we have 2 do it.Just show u once again ANC mentality

  • Ntoto - 2010-03-01 15:19

Which licence, when did he obtain one, it must be a fake, that could only be the reason why he did not even bother renewing it. He must go back to the backdoor and get himself a new fake

  • Chilli Bites - 2010-03-01 15:30

    R10 says its a code 10 (C1) licence!!!

  • black - 2010-03-01 15:35

    he's driving with a expired TV licence......idiot

  • Know your family - 2010-03-01 15:42

ANC's image has changed from a honorable freedom party to one of corruption, corruption, lies, promises, no integrity, no service, chaos, poor service delivery, corruption, worst education in Africa, etc, etc. And if the propaganda is bad, their own admission to these problems and the fact that the people in charge to rectify this are themselves incompetent / guilty does not encourage hope for improvement. Why will things change? Julius made some money..... Who paid for this, and who should have received the benefit? Why lie about it?

  • Ndugu - 2010-03-01 15:48

Very interesting. I wonder how officials couldnt serve summons? Obviously they arent doing their jobs either? So it goes without saying that his insurance would have lapsed (surely?).

  • Shaun - 2010-03-01 16:02

We can only hope that on 1 wet evening that C63 bites him good and proper........

  • Jumbo Swart - 2010-03-01 16:02

Why have a drivers licence when you are being carted around ( at taxpayers money ) by his security?

  • icandy - 2010-03-01 16:03

Duurrrr... He drives a C63 AMG for crying out loud. My own fines totalled 75% of that amount in my Citi Golf 1.4(carb model). I'm surprised why this made it as a "story".

  • Tim Kruger - 2010-03-01 16:04

This is getting out of hand, this guy just thinks he can do as he pleases without any consequences, it's about time the people of South Africa including myself woke up and made sure that something like this will not be tolerated in our country. I like Alfs comment above but the only problem with that is if we all don't pay our fines then we are helping to cripple South Africa.

  • Thobi - 2010-03-01 16:04

Wow he has about R1200 LESS fines than I have currently!

  • Babba - 2010-03-01 16:08

Die hoogste boompies van die meeste wind!! JM is all bark and no bite. He should learn to keep quiet. He is just another corrupt ANC official. He will not sue anybody because then the truth will come out in a court of law

  • Vuyani - 2010-03-01 16:12

    People don't hate.

  • STEYN - 2010-03-01 16:16

They can't get hold of him to arrest him? BULLS&&T!!!!!!!!!! they are all ANC @ssh0l%s. that's why he will not be arrested. the metro cops get da bribe from da corrupt individual. eish!!! how can we arrest the future corrupt president? they can arrest him at 1 of his stupid racist rallies with his retarded followers. how difficult is that?

  • CJ - 2010-03-01 16:21

Don't b silly, someone has duplicated his licence and now trying to discredit him AGAIN...stop it SA and grow up already :)

  • mlunngu - 2010-03-01 16:38

Ya gotta love him! JuJu makes the Nando's ads look pretty tame and limp in comparison to the reality he presents. Viva JuJu! (well, only for Comedy Night)

  • maggie - 2010-03-01 16:45

DUMB as you think Malema is he is enjoying our Tax money and getting away with criminal offences driving without a license and no number plate on his car.

  • Julius rocks - 2010-03-01 16:48

ha ha ha you're once again commenting on the young man.YOU GOTTA LOVE HIM. Hola Julius, they say we're stupid, lack education and will drag the country down. Didn't they say the same about Mandela, Mbeki,Zuma the whole ANC and they will say it again when Fikile is president of this country? This is our country and we'll never do anything to hurt the land or the people that stay in it but WE WILL CORRECT THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST.YOU DON'T LIKE IT, THEN GO BACK TO WHERE YOU ANCESTORS CAME FROM. AMANDLA!

  • civic - 2010-03-01 16:50

just look at it! Pixar could use this face

  • Malema Dilema - 2010-03-01 16:50

Okay, so far he is doing well with breaking all the laws in the country, just one more step closer to being another useless president

  • J Bones - 2010-03-01 16:51

Good old Julius may be newsworthy, but it is a bit much if this column now also covers his doings and screwings. I am sure most readers would rather you stick to cars as Julius is covered and reported ad nausiam elsewhere.

  • MASHABELA CAIPHUS - 2010-03-01 17:10

  • camelthief - 2010-03-01 17:12

Yes he is owa great leda and I will follow him foreva! Now I too will not pay my fines, I'll break the law on the roads, I'll bully and bribe my way into business contracts and I'll be racist and rude to people. viva Malema he shows us the way....to the bottom of the dung heap!

  • chidi Silas - 2010-03-01 17:43

Its not a sin to have an expired licence. Like any other citizen, he will renew it. Whats the fuss

  • Smk - 2010-03-01 18:02

"...several failed attempts by traffic officials to serve summons for the outstanding fines." HAHA Like they even tried. They cantr get hold of a well know politician but they sure as heck can find some unknown like me? Please stop pulling my legs they are both getting sore now.

  • steve - 2010-03-01 18:05

he is one of the most stupid in sa n does not pay his fines.. What does that say about the rest of us who are paying the fines?

  • sam - 2010-03-01 18:12

and this is our next president!?

  • Janine - 2010-03-01 18:21

SA does not need people like this. What is the good of trying to encourage people to be law-abiding when there are corrupt politicians everywhere? This needs to be properly investigated and, if he's guilty, then he needs to face the proper prosecution.

  • Ian - 2010-03-01 19:35

If Julius Malema is the MAN as he so loudly proclaims AND he is the "so-called" law abiding citizen then he should step forward and pay his fines and legalise his drivers licence. I expect that his and any vehicles he decides to use will have legal number plates, front and back. But sadly he seems to contradict himself too often to believe the chap, I suspect he has been hiding behind a VERY big lie, time will tell... I think time's up chap, now sink like the Titanic. If you cannot stay within the law then being blasted is a choice you make, I only hope our so-called "democracy" will investigate this idiot for tax and lifestyle purposes.

  • Andre - 2010-03-01 19:36

He lacks intelligence as well, the licence is the least of his problems AND unfortunately ours.

  • Lets not say - 2010-03-01 20:47

He must have been too impatient to wait in the line like all of us

  • OOps - 2010-03-01 20:52

Oops, I have some outstanding fines. Demmit.

  • Sipho Shabalala - 2010-03-01 20:52

Not only a clown.....When is Boswell and Wilke in town again to hire this absolute, obsolete no good for nothing young idiot. My goodness are we all wearing sunglasses not to see the damage he is doing our country.........Que vadis ????

  • Ian - 2010-03-01 21:01

This man cant even hold a Saw....how the hell can he navigate around the streets in a car.... Why are the traffic authorites not acting on this matter......or is it more ANC double standards......Come on RObert Mcbride....why are yoru useless traffic vultures not flocking to get this obvious menace and danger to other motorists off the roads......

  • Atjan - 2010-03-01 23:16

Just look at that face, pure baby innocence /ignorance. No ways he would drive his AMG without a licence!

  • DaveH - 2010-03-01 23:18

So if the license expired, big deal, go and get a renewal and pay the fine at the same time. If its a fake one then it wont be on record and he will have some explaining to do :) and will no doubt have to follow the correct procedure to acquire a valid one. Hopefully that means going through the whole deal of a driving instructor, a learners license and then a drivers license test. Maybe Juju sucked a woodwork but he seems to have driving skills, would be nice to see if he gets his learners passed first time.

  • Pete - 2010-03-02 06:56

I was gonna buy a Merc, but eish, I will rather buy something not tainted by the unpredictability of stupidity.

  • Concerned - 2010-03-02 06:59

Its time for people like this to be made an example of! this is an insult to all people of South Africa!

  • John - 2010-03-02 07:29

Look, with Malema we don't need to feign shock at each new revelation. Sure, it is good that some people are exposing all this, but there is no surprise really. The fact is that he is a joke, the laughing stock of this nation. The fact that he is where he is shows that there are a lot of other jokes that put him there. How can anyone in the ANCYL believe that this fool is the best they have? Is there really no-one better? Don't they have someone educated? The fact that he is allowed to get away with all this proves something else too, namely that the overall government of this country is corrupt, be it at municipal, provincial or national level. But we knew that already - think Shaik, Boesak, Yengeni, blue light goons. Welcome to the third world.

  • DieBAAS - 2010-03-02 07:30

So next time I have a fine I'll just say I don't have to pay because Malema does not pay his fines so its my right not to pay my fines! Awesome!!

  • Lourens - 2010-03-02 07:33

Please ANC youth league, do not ever kick this guy(idiot) out, I love him, he is the one that is finally going to drive even the ANC to the ground into pieces. Go Malema!!!!

  • Boring - 2010-03-02 07:37

With the car that fast I would have accumulated fines way over than R100K... unfortunately a Toyota Tazz 1.3 cannot even reach 160km/h.

  • Mark - 2010-03-02 07:54

Go JUJU go. You rock , VIVA JUJU VIVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Foxy - 2010-03-02 08:08

and again nothing will be done to him .. his illegal tenders are PRIVATE MATTERS, his unpaid speedfines are PRIVATE MATTERS, his expired licence is a PRIVATE MATTER .. what are laws in this country for if everything Malema does is a PRIVATE matter? Start with the law and prosecute him .. his mouth is too big!!

  • Sam - 2010-03-02 08:10

This guy is a disaster for the ANC and our youth. Hope he does not become a disaster for the country. Imagine the youth looking up to him and thinking it is okay to ignore the law, spread hate and make your money the easy way. He is the quintisential anti intellectual in the mold of Idi and Mobuto.

  • Sam - 2010-03-02 08:14

Poor Floyd Shivambu - how is he going to handle this one. Shielding a hot potato like Malema must be so trying. I am sure he must be considering reaching for rat poison. After the last set of revelations, all he could come up with was Stop it! Stop it!

  • Dawid Lombard - 2010-03-02 08:16

Give the man a chance. There must be some good in him, he can not be totally nefarious.

  • Stanton - 2010-03-02 09:21
