Loo stop puts brakes on car chase

Wellington - A New Zealand motorist who led police on a chase for 45 kilometres finally stopped when he had to use the loo, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Three police cars pursued the driver early on Saturday after he refused to stop when signalled to do so in the South Island city of Nelson, Sergeant Blair Hall told the Nelson Mail.

"The man stopped because his bladder was full and he could not carry on," he said.

The driver, 31, was charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police, who said drunk driving charges were also likely to be laid.
