Lambo gets trapped on golf course

Think Pebble Beach and the most intuitive associations are supercars and golf.

The exclusive Californian community is surrounded by seven golf courses, including a world famous links course, which has hosted the annual Pebble Beach since 1950.

This Concours d'Elegance even brings together some of the rarest and most exotic automobiles owned by private individuals. It renders a heady atmosphere of extreme wealth and understated one-upmanship. The last thing one wishes to do at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is wear the incorrect blazer, or even worse, drive your Lamborghini into one of the links course’s sand traps.

Well, this most embarrassing fate befell one of the 2011 event’s attendees on Friday, August 19, 2011 as he was making his way from the Concorse Italiano event, a supercar sub-meeting of sorts at Pebbble Beach.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE: GOING NOWHERE

Although the Orange Gallardo Spyder in question features a sophisticated permanent all-wheel drive system, ground clearance is rather scant (120mm) and those low-profile tyres are hardly going to deflate to gain one some traction if you happen to take a wrong turn onto a sand surface...

Fortunately, with the sheer volume of trailer queen exotics and one-off concept cars on display the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, there are always plenty of flat-bed trucks in attendance too. A helpful rollback recovery truck managed to edge up the Gallardo’s front wheels from its sand trap peril and set it back onto the green, enabling the owner to drive off.

Lamborghini’s Gallardo Spyder, a great way to get to the golf course (no doubt), but best left at the club house when you wander the fairways...
