Honda on Monday announced it will recall 936 000 cars, including the popular Jazz hatchback and CR-V SUV, to repair malfunctioning power-window switches.
Similar to the conditions which claimed the life of Cape Town toddler Vanilla Nurse in 2009 when her family’s Honda Jazz caught alight, Honda said in the “worst-case” scenario the switches would partially melt and their covers could catch fire.
However, Honda SA told Wheels24 on Monday that “South Africa is not affected by this recall”.
The recall covers Honda cars produced between October 2005 and October 2009. No one has been injured due to the defect, a company spokeswoman said.
