Ferrari rallies to help quake-hit

Ferrari is reaching out to victims of the two earthquakes that recently rocked its home region in Italy.

The two killer quakes hit the Emilia-Romagna region recently so, to aid those affected, Ferrari will host an online auction in the first week of June 2012 of a rare 599XX rolling laboratory said to be worth more than R10-million and a number of Formula 1-themed items.

HISTORY OF HELPING

The Ferrari items include a complete V8 engine from an F1 car along with racing suits and helmets donated by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Memorabilia from the works racing team from past seasons will also be auctioned alongside a selection of goods from the Ferrari Store.

According to Ferrari, clients and collectors of Prancing Horse items contacted the supercar-maker’s Maranello headquarters ater the two quakes to lend their support as they contributed earlier to the reconstruction of Abruzzo after an earthquake in 2009 and built a school in Fukushima in Japan after the 2011 quake and tsunami.
