The Mercedes Formula 1 team will be showcasing its 2011 F1 car in Durban at the Top Gear Festival street circuit in June 2012.
The MGP W02 car will be piloted by Sam Bird, GP2 winner and test driver for Mercedes, and fans of the sport can expect blistering demonstrations of F1 speed and power on the 2.4km street circuit.
STIG IN A LAMBO?
Bird said: “I’m really looking forward to the Top Gear Festival and the opportunity to drive our Silver Arrow F1 car through the streets of Durban. Any event where the fans can get really close to the car and experience the noise and power for themselves is fantastic. We’re all excited about travelling to South Africa in June."
Other highlights at this year's festival will include the Lamborghini Aventador and a McLaren MP4-12C being piloted around the track by Top Gear's tame test driver - The Stig.
Tickets are on sale and range from R250 - R1995. The Top Gear Festival will held over June 16/17.
