Dealer test hell for BMW 1M

Automakers and car dealers should learn to respect "citizen journalism" - as a group of annoyed BMW enthusiasts show in this video.

Two service technicians took a hot BMW 1M, with pre-delivery wrappings and tags still in place, for a test run through a suburb and filmed the drive. Silly chaps...

The ride was complete with stop-sign wheel-spinning and choppy gear changes. At the start of the clip the cameraman seems to struggle with his seat belt, even going as for as to say: "I'm still struggling with this piece of sh*t."

The footage angered BMW enthusiasts on the forum 1addicts.com so they used their combined detective skills to track down the dealership to Pacific BMW in Glendale, California. The video, now removed from Youtube, was brought to the attention of the dealership's service manager.

BMW RESPONDS

The manager wrote back: "Thank you very much for sending me this link. I am addressing the issue. Pacific BMW does not condone this type of behaviour and it will not be tolerated. Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention."

First off, the camerawork is shoddy, 'Yes, let's show more of the dash', secondly the pair may have been on a pre-delivery inspection ride. Imagine how you would feel picking up your brand-new M-powered ride after it was abused by the technicians.

We're pretty sure those two service technicians will receive a tongue-lashing from their superiors - if they manage to keep their jobs. BMW should also be credited for its response to the forum.

Well done to the guys at 1addicts.com for bringing this to the attention of BMW.
