The massive BMW recall in the US concerning certain 3- and 5 Series and X3 models, will not affect any local vehicles, BMW SA has said.
Speaking to Wheels24 on Friday, BMW SA said the recall affected US-spec vehicles only.
The fault affects airbag sensors in the passenger seat, which over time and with wear-and-tear could affect the deployment of these airbags. 200 000 vehicles are being recalled to have the sensor replaced.
However, BMW SA reiterated that local cars remain unaffected by the recall.
It exports certain 3 Series models to the US from its Rosslyn plant.
