With the A5, Audi is taking aim against the BMW 3 Series Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLK Coupe.
Initially only the 3.2 FSI model and the sporty S5 will be available here. Market introduction for these two cars will commence from March 2008. More derivatives will follow later in 2008 and Audi will complete the line-up by early 2009.
The 3.2 FSI has a power output of 195 kW while torque is 330 Nm in a broad rev band of 3 000 to 5 000 r/min.
Within 6.1 seconds the A5 3.2 FSI quattro with manual six-speed gearbox sprints from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
The S5's eight-cylinder engine has a rated power output of 260 kW. Its peak torque is 440 Nm, which it already delivers at 3 500 r/min. Within just 5.1 seconds the Audi S5 can sprint to 100 km/h.
Both models feature permanent four-wheel drive.
