Aston Martin has churned out a track-inspired special edition of its V8
Vantage, the N420.
Following on from the special edition V8 Vantage N400 of 2007, the N420 is based on the 4.7-litre model and bears homage to Gaydon’s exploits at the 2006 Nürburgring 24-hour race where the carmaker, listing company CEO Ulrich Bez as one of the team members, finished fourth in its class and 24th overall from a field of more than 200 race cars.
Through generous use of carbon fibre, the special N420 has had 27kg shaved off its weight. Taking the racetrack feel to the streets, it is fitted with a Sports Pack combining revised springs and dampers and anti-roll bars for improved responsiveness and sharper handling.
A new sports exhaust system delivers the requisite soundtrack.
Keeping up the car’s exclusive appearance, wider sills are offset by a carbon fibre splitter, a diffuser and bold 10-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels, while black mesh vents and tailpipe finishers complete the look.
Inside the N420’s cabin, an Iridium package with graphite instruments, leather and alcantara trim, carbon fibre seats embossed with “Race Track” stitching and special sill plaques are all listed. Standard convenience items include Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and park distance control.
The special edition models are further distinguished by a new range of “Race Collection” paint schemes, including the traditional Aston Martin Racing green.
If you happen to have around £100 000 at your disposal, deliveries kick off in August. The V8 Vantage N420 is available as Coupe or Roadster. Six-speed manual or Sportshift automated manual transmissions are offered.
