COOL WHEELS: The Aston Martin DBS Carbon Edition was shown at the recent <a href="http://www.wheels24.co.za/NewModels/Motor_Shows/Frankfurt_Motor_Show" target="_blank">Frankfurt auto show</a>.
Aston Martin has scooped the UK’s coolest brand title for the fifth time in six years, beating off a host of top global technology and fashion brands.
Apple and Rolex didn’t stand a chance against the stylish British marque, which was also voted that country’s top automotive brand. Including Harley Davidson, four automotive nameplates made the top 20 list.
A database of the UK’s coolest brands is compiled using a host of sources, ranging from news reports to blogs, before a shortlist of around 1500 brands is drawn up. This list is then whittled down to 500, before the final vote is decided.
Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the CoolBrands Council commented: “Smooth, sexy and sophisticated; British built, high quality and hand finished, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t aspire to own what is truly the coolest car on the road. Number one in five of the last six years, this British icon is truly the coolest of the cool.”
Aston Martin’s line-up includes the One-77 supercar and the V12 Zagato, Vantage and Rapide, and the Toyota-based Cygnet city car.
