Mercedes-Benz has released more details about its upcoming SLS AMG sports car, this time with information about the car's interior.
The cabin is said to carry an "aviation design" theme, which is reflected in the wing-shaped dashboard, jet-inspired centre console and air vents reminiscent of aircraft engines.
A new feature, too, is the E-Select lever that controls the AMG Speedshift 7-speed double clutch gearbox. Its design can apparently be likened to the thrust control of a jet aircraft.
Materials such as nappa leather, metal accents and carbon-fibre trim also included in the SLS's interior.
This new interior, according to Gordon Wagener, the head of design at Mercedes-Benz, signals a new design philosophy for coming Merc sports cars.
Another key feature of this Mercedes-Benz is its "swing doors" or gullwing doors.
Standard equipment on the new SLS will include sport seats, interior panels and a dashboard finished in hand-stitched leather, and features such as adaptive cruise control, Parktronic, Thermotronic and keyless-go.
Optional features include a revised Bang and Olufsen sound system, a DVD changer and media interface.
Safety is a key consideration, too, with the two-seater boasting eight airbags,
The SLS AMG will be introduced early in 2010.
