Ever wondered what a torque converter is and the purpose it serves in a car?

Maybe you've seen it or heard about it before but never knew exactly what its purpose is in an automatic car.

Understanding torque converters

The purpose of a torque converter is to transfer power to the driveshaft and driving wheels.

Automatic cars, as you know, dont feature a clutch thus needing a component to regulate speed and sync everything together - the torque converter.

Understanding torque converters can be pretty complicated with all the things you have to take into account, as opposed to a manually powered car.
