A specially-equipped vehicle in Japan can scan and detect problems on the road, and surrounding infrastructure in need of fixing.

This eliminates the need for a construction site visit, saving time and increasing efficiency. 

Putting technology to good use

The mini-van is nothing fancy, painted in yellow with a large piece of detection equipment perched atop of it.

With Japan's widespread motorways, the car can cover a larger area faster and pinpoint which areas need the most attention.

Japan will be hosting the 2020 Olympic games and its infrastructure has to be in top condition - this definitely speeds up the process to get everything ready in time.
