Lane-assist technology is becoming a standard feature for most modern cars, as automakers hope to curb the amount of crashes caused by changing lanes.
There are two commonly used systems - lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist - each with its own purpose though they work in unison.
Simple objective
The lane-departure system lets drivers know when they're moving out of their lane whether in the city or highway. It lets the driver know with an audible alert and icon on the dashboard.

Lane-keep assist on the other hand is capable of taking over the steering of a vehicle, potentially life-saving in the event of a driver veering off the road.
