Sport utility vehicles are notorious fuel-guzzlers; their weight and height make them less fuel-efficient in traffic than smaller hatchbacks. 

One solution Mazda has developed is cylinder-deactivation technology. The SkyActiv technology used by Mazda has been changing driving dynamics and this one is yet another smart way to save fuel at times you would tend to do so.

The technology from Mazda allows the engine to deactivate cylinders while the car is coasting, thus saving fuel in the process.
