The Trump administration is moving ahead with plans to revise safety rules that bar fully self-driving cars from the roads without equipment such as steering wheels, pedals and mirrors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) change to the rules will affect US automakers, including General Motors, Ford, Tesla and tech giants like Alphabet.

The US Department of Transport said the Trump administration would not support calls to end human driving.
