Sony Electronics has unveiled its latest AX5550D and AX3500 in-car media receivers.

The new displays are designed to provide a safer and smarter driving experience for South African road users, combining improved touchscreen technology, class-leading build quality, and added convenience to make being on the road as enjoyable as possible.

The AX5550D and AX3500 will enable road users to navigate, communicate and play music without ever having to take their hands off the wheel, for a safer driving experience.

Key Features: AX5550D Bluetooth Media Receiver

The new AX5550D provides a hands-free driving experience, ensuring drivers stay focused on the road while connected to their devices. The new in-car receiver features an innovative safety design that limits distractions with lighter touch operation and improved visibility. This allows drivers to view details on their screen at a glance.

Additionally, Sony’s new media receiver offers comprehensive smartphone connectivity, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and WebLink Cast. The receiver is also equipped with dual USB ports for easy accessibility. The AX5550D has a 6.95-inch flush mount capacitive touchscreen with a flat, bezel-less display.

Drivers can connect their compatible Apple and Android smartphones to get directions, stream music, make phone calls or send and receive messages using Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which now supports third-party navigation apps. 

Thanks to EXTRA BASS, drivers can listen to their favourite music, while on the road, with clear, punchy sound at any volume level. The display is rear-view camera ready, so shifting the vehicle into reverse, or tapping the ‘rear camera’ icon on the home screen will show the rear camera feed on the screen, with customisable guidelines to help reverse safely.

The new AX3500 provides a superior entertainment experience while on the go thanks to its extensive features, including WebLink Cast, providing effortless control for everyday driving. A 6.95-inch anti-glare touchscreen display offers the convenience of lighter touch operation and improved visibility.

Thanks to the ease of WebLink Cast, drivers can mirror their favourite applications from the smartphone on the AX3500 for a safer and enjoyable drive. Its ergonomically designed key terminal gives instant access to the receiver’s basic operations, such as source selections and sound adjustments while minimising distractions.
