All new Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) models in South Africa will be offered with technology that removes damaging pollutants and from air particles by an electrical charge to ionise them.

Labelled 'cabin air ionisation with PM2.5', Jaguar says air particles smaller than micrometres will be halted from entering the cabin.

It's all about improving the air quality inside the cabin by reducing bacteria, reducing allergens and even filtering out odours that tag along the bacteria.

JLR says the optional system will be introduced in select models in South Africa by the end of 2020 and will be rolled out in all vehicles by the beginning of 2021.

Another feature called 'air purge' will activate the fans and recirculation function of the climate control system remotely in order to “freshen” the cabin’s air prior to entry.

A nifty trick can see drivers set a timed the function via the infotainment system before leaving the vehicle after a trip. Or pop open the remote 'InControl' app to set it before entering the vehicle.
