Cape Town - It wasn't that long ago when electric cars were just a concept and autonomous vehicles pure fantasy. Technology has advanced leaps and bounds as automakers and companies continue to push the boundaries of motoring.

Earlier in June Wheels24 reported that several projects are under way make flying cars a reality.
The PAL-V (Personal Air and Land Vehicle) firm, based in Raamsdonksveer in the Netherlands, is aiming to deliver its first flying car to its first customer by the end of 2018.

Could all this revolutionary tech make it way to emergency vehicles?

The guys at CarKeys UK have come up with some ideas of what emergency vehicles could look like in the future.

CarKeys says: "Emergency vehicles don’t seem to have changed much in recent years. But with technology advancing at a rapid pace, we thought they might look very different in the future."

1 This cool future Fire-Truck

Features on this future fire-truck include:

1. Turbojet engines
-Arranged to hit the water flow with a powerful jet blast that increases the distance of the water flow by 25%
-Uses natural gas combustion

2. LED display
-Provides people around the vehicle with useful information about the current hazards around the area.
-uses an array of light-emitting diodes as pixels for a video display

3. IDH Camera
-The infrared digital holography camera enables the firefighters to see through thick veils of smoke and walls of flame to find people in need of rescue.

4. Augmented reality display
-Enables the firefighter to access important information on the go.
-Provides live video feed from the IDH camera.

5. Airless Tyres
-The airless tyres can't go flat.
-Tyres will need to be replaced less often.
-Able to carry more weight and engage in more rugged activities.

2 Flying Ambulance... with a skin gun?

Features on the airboune ambulance:

1. Rear access
-Equipped with a rear access ramp for the patients.
-All the necessary gear and equipment for first aid fits inside the main cabin.

2. Amphibious
-Equipped wit retractable landing gear.
-Support both land and water takeoff and landing procedures

3. Electric jet engine
-Supersonic electric aircraft capable of Mach 1.3
-Supports both horizontal and vertical takeoff and landing procedures.

4. Skin Gun
-The Skin Gun is a medical device that sprays a patient with stem cells to treat burns and other wounds.
This treatment can replace conventional methods of treating severe wounds, such as skin grafting.

3 Future police motorcycle

1. Centreless wheel
-The axle is hollow, following the wheel at very close tolerances.
-The bearings and other mechanical parts are not exposed to the elements.
-Enhances the throttle response and lowers the weight.

2. Brushless DC Motor
-Problems of the brushed DC motor are eliminated in the bloc design.
-The mechanical "rotating switch" or commutator is replaced by an external electronic switch synchronised to the rotor's position.
-85-90% more efficient

3. Augmented reality display
-Enables the officer to access important information on the go.
-Let's you run a licence plate scan while chasing the suspect.
- Analyses the subject movement patterns and gives instructions to get ahead on the chase.

4. Heuristically programmed algorithmic computer (HAL)
-Helps maintaining the motorcycle systems during the chase.
-Provides useful data to the augmented reality display.

5. Electronic shock absorbers
-Horizontally arranged electric motors replace telescopic shock absorbers.
-The system enables energy recuperation in the suspension.
-Electromechanical rotary dampers increase ride comfort.
