Elon Musk speaks on that time Top Gear tried to ruin Tesla

Cape Town - Back in 2011, we reported that electric automaker Tesla sued the BBC's hit motoring show Top Gear for allegedly faking a race between its electric sports car and a petrol-fuelled Lotus Elise.

The automaker said it issued a writ in London's High Court claiming defamation and malicious falsehood over a show that supposedly tested its Roadster Sport.

But what actually happened?

A video shows Tesla founder Elon Musk explaining what exactly occurred after the roadster was sent for testing.

It turns out, before the roadster was even delivered a script was written which laid out a scenario of the Tesla 'breaking down'.
