HAMBURG, Germany - Mercedes-Benz has announced vast plans to expand its model range.
Mercedes-Benz development chief, Thomas Weber told AutoBild: "We are planning to introduce 13 all-new models by 2020."
YOUNGER CROWDS
The company says the strategy was designed to boost the appeal of these premium cars among younger buyers.
“The use of modular platforms shared between different models would enable a large number of new cars to be developed. The first of this new generation is the four-door CLA coupe which derives from the new A-Class platform and running gear."
Next there’ll be an off-road-styled sports activity vehicle (SAV) with a GLA tag and it will either be based on the A or B-Class platform.
According to Weber, all future models from the C-Class up will be offered in hybrid petrol-electric or diesel-electric versions.
