All-new VW Golf looms

accreditation
Volkswagen is readying the Golf VI for introduction next year. According to Auto Express the three- and five-door models will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

VW is keen to give the Golf a sportier flair, and to improve overall quality. However, at the same time the German carmaker has to bring down production costs of its most popular car.

The new Golf will follow VW?s new design direction and at the front the car will get the new chrome grille with LED headlights, similar to that of the Eos.

Auto Express reports that typical Golf styling cues such as the high shoulder line, small glass area and chunky C-pillars will remain. To give the car a sportier look the general design will be more curvaceous and it will get a neat roof spoiler too.

Apparently the interior will be more exciting too, and it will come with several high-tech gizmos.

To cut costs, VW will keep the current model?s underpinnings but it will get a simplified mulit-link suspension setup.

It is expected that there will be fewer engine options too. Although There will still be the 1.4 and 1.6-litre FSI units, VW will add turbocharged petrols and more twin-charged engines.

A potent twin-charged unit could even power the GTI model.

VW will also update its DSG semi-automatic transmission for the new Golf.
