BRENTWOOD, England - The new Ford Focus ST is following some its predecessors as the latest official police patrol vehicle.
Donning full law enforcement livery, Ford says, the estate version will add something special with its speed and sporty looks.
GOING BACK IN TIME
Among iconic Ford police cars is the RS 200, based on the Ford Rally B car. It was produced between 1984 and 1986. Then the Escort, considered a family vehicle at the time was, produced from 1968 to 2000.

The 1967 Anglia was assembled in the UK and its name was seen on four versions between 1939 and 1967 before being replaced by the Escort.
The 1991 Sierra Cosworth was unveiled in 1982.
Other cars transformed into official vehicles include the Granada, the 1962 Z Cars, the 1965 Zephyr 6 Mk3, the 1969 MkII Lotus cortina and the 1983 2.8i Capri. Crime fighting must be Ford's genes.

The Focus ST meets National Policing Improvement Agency standards for fast response vehicles, inside and out. The light bar on the roof is all-diode and the facia is fitted with a mobile data terminal and screen to illustrate the car's versatility for multi-role police use.
The car’s two-litre 186kW EcoBoost engine means it can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 247 km/h.
