Fathers' Day: Top 5 Dads' Cars

2013-06-13 14:50

When you’re a dad of a certain age new rules apply. Rules, let’s be honest, that kids just don’t get.

To celebrate Fathers' Day on June 16 are Great Escape Classic Car Hire’s fashion-be-damned Top 5 Ultimate Dads' Cars. The models are based on their customer feedback and rental volumes.

Call them old-school or retro or whatever but the list hopes to change youthful notions of cool, style and fashion.

The ultimate dads' cars, according to Great Escape, are embarrassing to anybody under the age of 25 but unadulterated joy to blokes with more hair in their ears than on their head.

See the top five (videos included):

Ford Mustang
Corvette Stingray
Jensen Interceptor
Jaguar Mk2
Ford Capri

      Frank Hansen - 2013-06-13 17:33

Im making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do, www.Zen75.com

      Mustang for me please .....

  • Brutus Mcgreggor - 2013-06-13 17:56

Geez, where did they get the feedback, at an old age home?

I would definitely have a Corvette, Mustang (Eleanor-style) and Interceptor in my fantasy garage. They all have big V8's and loads of style! Although, like Maestro, I certainly wouldn't say no to a Ferrari GTO or 275 GTB, a Jag E-Type or Aston DB 5 or 6! A Ford Model T though? You must be joking!

  • Keith Monale - 2013-06-14 04:46

Oh yes please! Yes its a little old school but looking at those pictures, all I can imagine is the sound of that throbbing, and angry-sounding Mustang V8. Yes my fathers day choice would actually be something more modern but there is no way I would say "no thanks son" to any of these bad boys. That education investment had better pay of or I will be one bitter pensioner.

      Freddie Jones - 2013-06-14 14:35

I know that we get a lot of bigots on News24, but you must be the 1st car bigot! You might at least put an Aston, Maserati and a Lambo in there somewhere.

  • Lynn Clive Wood - 2013-06-14 09:42

Folks to understand the results you need to see the Great Escape Classic Car Hire Company website and understand the choice is restricted to vehicles from their fleet

  • Francois Bonthuys - 2013-06-14 10:30

Mustang for me thank you please

  • Freddie Jones - 2013-06-14 14:25

I'm a pensioner, but NONE of them are on my list! But this is really just a list of what someone has and is trying to flog hire time on.

These are real cars that dads truly once owned and loved...not stupid over-powered supercars. Am tired of supercar lovers thinking everybody is crazy for not wanting one.
