THE FUTURE: This is Nissan's proposed transport solution for single folk and the elderly.

Nissan’s proposed Mobility concept for a zero-emission electric car has been unveiled.

Nissan plans to cater for a number of needs with such a car: sustainable and convenient transport for an increasing group of elderly and single households and the conundrum of the trend towards driving shorter distances.

Not many details were supplied but Nissan’s very compact 100% electric concept is expected to be applied in a number of ways.

The automaker sees it being used either as a cog in a public transportation system or as a part-time commuter and corporate car.

Nissan is investing heavily in its alternative drive technologies and recently announced it would launch its Leaf electric vehicle in December 2010 in Japan and the US and in Europe from early 2011.
