The way you drive hugely impacts your car's efficiency and Fiat has launched a new device that aims to dramatically change this.

eco:Drive is a system that gives drivers feedback on how their driving style influences their car's fuel consumption, and helps them to drive more efficiently. Along with saving fuel, it also reduces the levels of CO2 emitted.

eco:Drive is a software application that can be downloaded and installed on your computer and works via Fiat's plug-and-play Blue&Me infotainment system.

To use the system, you would need to plug a USB into the Blue&Me port and eco:Drive will record information about the vehicle's efficiency throughout the journey. Once you've completed the journey, just hook it up to your computer to generate a report.

Users can analyse fuel consumption and emissions and eco:Drive will give a score out of 100 to show how efficiently the car has been. A series of tutorials is also available to help drivers improve their scores.
Fiat's 500 and Grande Punto are the first the use eco:Drive and it is estimated that driver who use the system could improve their efficiency by up to 15%.

The Fiat Group's Blue&Me platform has been developed by Microsoft and has been installed in more than 500 000 vehicles since it was first launched two years ago.
