BRITS, North West - A woman died and four other people were rescued after their cars were swept away in flooding near a shopping mall.
The North West provincial government said on (Mar 5 2014) that Meisie van Tonder, 56, was found by police - four others were rescued on (Mar 4 2014).

A spokesperson said: "Van Tonder had not been accounted for after her car and another from which four occupants were rescued were swept [away] by the flooding De Kroon stream near the Brits Mall."
North West provincial disaster management was on high alert as the SA Weather Service predicted more heavy rain across the province.
Emergency services are also on high alert in the area as the Water Affairs Department opened the sluice gates at the Hartebeespoort dam on the Crocodile River. North West premier Thandi Modise urged road users and people living downstream from the dam to be aware of flooding.
