Dizzy thief flees in stolen car

Smash and grab incidents and stolen cars being used as get-away vehicles for robberies is nothing new in South Africa. Women here are more prone to losing their handbags in smash-and-grab incidents while driving than having their handbag snatched from a thief on the run.

Police in Australia are looking for a bag-snatcher who might have been badly injured when he crashed through a plate-glass window in his haste to flee a shopping centre in the west coast city of Perth.

Western Australia Police on Monday (April 1, 2013) posted a video on YouTube of the robbery in the suburb of Ballajura taken by a security camera.

UNAWARE

Shoppers helped the man to his feet, unaware they were assisting in his escape.

His accomplice intervened and the pair escaped in a stolen car.

Police were unavailable for comment.
