LONDON, England – British luxury automaker Trident has launched its flagship Iceni sports car and called it "the world’s fastest and most fuel-efficient” diesel sports car.
How fast? How far? Trident claims 300km/h+ and THREE THOUSAND kilometres to a tank of mineral or bio-diesel.

The automaker explained: "The Iceni uses torque multiplication technology to achieve this unique combination of speed, power and fuel-efficiency" Which means it cruises at very low engine revolutions.
The car is available as the Iceni Magna (fastback) and Iceni Venturer (estate) and is powered by a 6.6-litre V8 294kW/948Nm turbodiesel driving through a six-speed auto. Trident claims 0-100km/h in 3.7sec and 306km/h.
Phil Bevan, designer and founder of Trident, said: "Trident cars deliver incredible speed, performance and fuel-efficiency, achieved through our unique torque multiplication technology."
The Iceni has a claimed fuel consumption of 4.1 litres/100km. Bevan said the key to the Iceni's range was a combination of low revs and increased torque. For example, at 112km/h the sports car is running at only 980rpm.
LUXURY INTERIOR
Standard kit includes power-assisted steering, aircon, leather sports seats, satnav and digital radio.
A Premium Pack adds a heatable windscreen, carbon-fibre trim, power adjustment for the seats; a Luxury Pack adds heatable external mirrors, a four-piece leather luggage set and an infotainment system with a 17.8cm touchscreen.
The British-designed Iceni has a distinctive look with clean curves and an unusual sculpted rear. Each car can be built to customer specifications.
Co-founder of Trident, Daniel Monaghan, said: “We've worked extremely hard to reach this point and the whole Trident team is thrilled to be bringing the world’s most fuel-efficient diesel sports cars to market.”
The three Iceni sports cars are available to purchase globally with prices starting from R1.7-million. According to Trident, the Iceni is already in high-demand as it will produce a limited number of the bespoke sports cars.
