Danny K, turbo Koup to rock Jims

Kia will expand its Cerato range with the addition of the new hatchback and Koup at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show in October and brand ambassadors Danny K and Kabelo Mabalane will be on the stand.

Wheels24 attended the South African launch of Kia’s next-generation Cerato earlier this year and in September, the automaker has announced it will expand the range with the addition of its hatchback and sportier Koup derivatives at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show (Jims) in October.

TURBO-POWERED CERATO

The three-door Koup will be powered by a new four-cylinder 1.6 GDI turbocharged engine capable of 152kW at 6000rpm and 264Nm from 1750-4500 pm.

At the front, the model sports new LED's, an assertive facia and twin chromed exhausts.

Kia South Africa's national marketing manager David Sieff said:  “We're very excited to be able to finally offer the first of what we hope will be many turbo engines into the local Kia line-up. The Cerato Koup has been a great success for Kia as far as three-door models are concerned. Now the Koup gets some extra power to do justice to its great looks and road presence.“

SA MUSICIANS BACK KIA

Kia is also planning fun activities at Jims and will be broadcasting live on its Kia Take40 SA chart show on Saturday, October 19.

According to Kia: “The show will feature exciting giveaways and interviews with celebrities, including KMSA’s brand ambassadors Danny K, Kabelo Mabalane and the newly signed pop group Micasa.

Sieff said: “Kia looks to the Johannesburg auto show as a showpiece for our products where people can compare us with our peers in an exhibition environment. It’s a great way to understand how well we stack up against the other brands but it’s also about having fun at the show by engaging with our brand ambassadors and chatting to our energetic and passionate Kia staff.”
